PROJECT: Chinese new Revolution_Rural and Urban.
Housing and multifunctional space. Hangzhou, China.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project´s aim is to act on the new city plan of Hangzhou, China. To construct some new buildings and urban action that generates great development in the city.
You have to know: their culture, Fengshui, water, land, family, weather, etc, for design of the project, taking into account modern techniques as well. That fusion enriches the architecture and the lives of the habitants, so they do not lose their customs and use the resources of their country.

THE PROJECT
The architectural program is composed of multifunctional spaces: cultural area, commercial, leisure, gateways space with multipurpose areas and housing, all is integrated in the same building.
The buildings have been placed in the northern part of the plot to leave as much space as possible to the south. It is the best luminic orientation for crops, rice paddies, fish farms, and for nurseries which are in housing, as they need sunlight nourishes them.

Bioclimatic effect is achieved by taking advantage of the building orientation, thus the greenhouse is achieved throughout the building. The glass coating of multifunctional area has photothermal and photovoltaic panels that caters to the proposal for a hot water and electricity. Furthermore, the separation of the blocks of flats is appropriate to not throw shadows on each other.

The buildings rise from the ground, nothing is buried due to heavy rains causing flooding and the high water table near the river. In addition, the building is permeable to the wind. The cars are off the ground in a parking facility of multifunctional areas and are transported to each floor of the housing blocks by car hoists.

Another sustainable idea is the concept of Permaculture means permanent agriculture, fertilizing, cleansing the river, growing fish and plants that help the recovery of the river and collect rainwater for use in housing. New resources are provided for residents can benefit.
The rivers have been the route of transportation and communication in China and allowed trade, but can hardly navigate and if this project will be located in different tranches of the river, they would get a much quicker recovery and homogeneous.
Merging the rural and the urban, we get the concept of Rurbano, created by Guallart. A return to a rural environment using the possibilities given to us by the cities and new technologies, materials, etc.

SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Ultimately, it is proposed a new way of living that is more interactive with the environment and people, to activate social life of residents. Meeting spaces are generated, that is highly valued in Chinese culture, and the realization of social activities where you will help to improve the environment in which they live and in the production of their own resources, and besides obtaining recovery of the River of its contamination. It aims to introduce natural environments (for the benefit and welfare of people) while it shares the intense pace of the cities.

PROJECT SPECS

DIMENSIONS

The site, 15,6 hectares in size (rice paddies: 19,197 m2, crops 13,000 m2 and river and fish farms: 38 828 m2) with built area of 30,302 m2.
The building is structured according to orthogonal shapes, thus allowing the addition of modules as needed. The modular unit is the container housing (a person would need a module of 7 x 3.5 = 24.5 m2), with this measure set the different typologies. The multifunctional spaces have the structure that supports the building, including housing, its module is 9 x 3.5 m.

STRUCTURE, MATERIALS AND FABRICATION TECHNIQUES

The industrial aspect of the project, according to its construction, has different levels of structure. The multifunctional spaces are used a combined structure of concrete and steel, and its pillars are the main support of the housing. These main pillars are mixed, concrete and structural steel and support the housing blocks, formed by a tubular frames joined by HEB beams, screwed. On this structure are embedded three dimensional trusses of laminated wood that are housing containers. Finally we found some small bamboo structures that are mobile boxes which are part of the furniture in the house and common uses.
By using local materials, the inner lining of the house is Paduk wooden, it is a hygrothermal material, therefore it absorbs the humidity, and thus a perfect state of comfort is achieved in the area of ​​housing. They have an outer coating of zinc.

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

Ultimately, this is a modular building, functional and easy assembly and disassembly, for which there are permanent cranes to add or remove modules as needed. In the event that the proposed uses are not suitable, the building shall be versatile to suit other types of use. That is why there provision of recycling project, the housing could be removed and the external structure could be reused for other uses or could even be dismantled and disappear.
